CSR program
A program built around people, the environment, and the quality of our operations in Quebec.
The social responsibility of a service company is measured first by how it treats the people who do the work. Our teams maintain buildings that are often empty of occupants, in varied and sometimes demanding environments. The quality of their supervision, training and working conditions is the first chapter of our CSR program — not an appendix to it.
The second chapter covers our operational footprint: the products we use, water and energy consumed during interventions, waste handling on site, and the equipment and methods we choose. GSF Canada frames these topics through an environmental management system certified ISO 14001:2015 for its Laval operations, with monitoring and continuous improvement requirements.
The third chapter is the client relationship. In our trade, a responsible service means an honest scope, consistent delivery, and communication that does not oversell. It also means being able to document what was done, and to correct what needs correcting.
This program runs in Canada, with Canadian resources. Groupe GSF operates its own CSR program internationally, and the results and recognitions attached to it — notably the EcoVadis assessment — belong to the Group.
People first
Our work rests entirely on the people who perform it. GSF Canada relies on structured onboarding, training tied to the actual tasks of the site, nearby supervision and internal advancement. Respect and recognition for work done are management expectations, not slogans.
- Onboarding adapted to the assigned site.
- Training on methods, products and applicable safety instructions.
- Supervision that is named, reachable and present in the field.
- Paths toward team lead or specialty roles.
Health and safety at work
Working at height, handling chemicals, moving through an active warehouse, clearing a parking lot at night: each context carries its own risks. Our instructions draw on applicable Quebec regulation, on product safety data sheets, and on each client’s site rules. Incidents are documented and used to adjust practices.
Environment and resources
Our environmental work focuses on what we actually control: product selection and dilution, reducing wasted water, sorting materials on site when the client organizes it, preventive maintenance of equipment, and route planning. The ISO 14001 framework requires us to measure, monitor and revisit those choices.
- Controlled products and dilutions, with training on proper use.
- Equipment maintained to extend its service life.
- Participation in sorting and waste streams as organized by the site.
- Intervention planning to limit unnecessary travel.
Responsible service for our clients
A responsible engagement starts with a realistic scope. We would rather describe precisely what is included, at what frequency and under whose responsibility, than widen a commercial promise. Operational follow-up then makes service consistency verifiable, and lets the routine adapt when building use changes.
Rooted in local communities
Our jobs are local and cannot be offshored: they are open to people who live near the buildings we maintain, including those whose career path has not been a straight line. Where possible, our purchasing and subcontracting favour suppliers established in Quebec.
Operations governed by documented systems
Quality and environment are managed through certified systems, with written procedures, audits and improvement plans. That framework keeps CSR from resting on good intentions: it creates an obligation to produce evidence, reviewed periodically by an external body.
The Groupe GSF CSR program
Groupe GSF publishes its own CSR program, with its priorities, indicators and external assessments. That program guides Group culture and can be read alongside this page. The results it contains concern Groupe GSF and cannot be transferred to Canadian operations.
